Iodotropheus stuartgranti, male, photo by Ad Konings Iodotropheus stuartgranti, female, photo by Ad Konings

Dark fish: A male Iodotropheus stuartgranti from the type locality of the species, the east coast of Lake Malawi north of the Nsinje River, Malawi, about 1 km south of the Mozambique border. Light fish: A female I. stuartgranti from the same locality. This species differs from the type species of the genus, I. sprengerae, in coloration and in having a relatively shorter lower jaw. I. stuartgranti bears a stronger resemblance to species of Labidochromis than does I. sprengerae. Both photos by Ad Konings, from the original description, Konings (1990); reproduced by permission of Ad Konings and of T.F.H. Publications, Inc.
