Petrotilapia mumboensis (formerly known by the provisional name "mumbo blue"; 128 mm SL) from
Mumbo Island; (at right): left premaxilla (lateral view) and anterior
outer row tooth of its congener, Petrotilapia tridentiger
(drawings by Elizabeth M. Tarr). P. "mumbo blue" was formally described
under the name Petrotilapia mumboensis by Lundeba, Stauffer, & Konings (2011).
Like others of their genus, these are relatively large mbuna species having
several rows of movably implanted tricuspid teeth in the jaws.
