Dark fish: A male Iodotropheus stuartgranti from
the type locality of the species, the east coast of Lake Malawi north
of the Nsinje River, Malawi, about 1 km south of the Mozambique border.
Light fish: A female I. stuartgranti from the same locality.
This species differs from the type species of the genus,
I. sprengerae, in coloration and in having
a relatively shorter lower jaw. I. stuartgranti bears a stronger
resemblance to species of Labidochromis than does I. sprengerae.
