Sciaenochromis fryeri, the "electric blue hap."
This magnificent fish, so popular with aquarists, used to be called
Haplochromis ahli or Sciaenochromis ahli. Konings, believing this
form to be different from the holotype of S. ahli, named it as a new species.
The profile of the head, with what Ethelwynn Trewavas used to call a "Roman nose,"
is rather distinctive. Photo courtesy of Dr. Paul V. Loiselle.
