A sexually active male of a Nimbochromis species, possibly N. pardalis, in an aquarium. Photo copyright © by M. K. Oliver. This fish appears to key to N. pardalis in Eccles & Trewavas (1989), because of its having a combination of spotted pectoral fins and a crossbar between the eyes, but it may belong to a different species. Konings (1995c) regards N. pardalis as a synonym of N. polystigma.
