I had confidently identified this fish as
Mylochromis formosus, because it closely resembles the lectotype
of that species as illustrated by the Fasken drawing in
Eccles & Trewavas (1989: 227). Dr. George Turner, however, informs me
(pers. comm.) that in his opinion this photo is definitely not of
M. formosus and probably shows M. "torpedo," a form which
he is describing as a new species. Stay tuned for developments!
