Copadichromis atripinnis, new species, is described from the Cape Maclear Region
of Lake Malawi. It is diagnosed primarily by the solid black pigmentation of the pelvic fins,
the black anal fin, and the broad black bands on the caudal fin. The presence of a stone in
the bower, may indicated that C. atripinnis is most closely related to C. trewavasae,
C. geertsi, C. azureus, C. mbenjii and C. ilesi, all of whose
bowers contain a stone.
