Buccochromis oculatus, male; photo by Erwin Schraml Buccochromis oculatus, female; photo by Erwin Schraml
This oblique-striped species is probably Buccochromis oculatus. The large eye and body shape are fairly distinctive. The colorful male and the female (which shows the stripe clearly) were both photographed by Erwin Schraml at Verduijn Cichlids, an importer's store in Zevenhuizen, Netherlands. Thank you, Erwin, for permitting your photos to be displayed here! Be sure to visit Erwin's World of Fishes online magazine.
